Lacquer Mastering

What is a lacquer master? It’s a lacquer-coated aluminum disc (larger than the finished product) that contains all of the grooves that represent the final mastered sound of your recording.

Creating a lacquer master is a one-time process and is not required for reorders. If you want to supply your own lacquer masters for an order that’s perfectly okay. Contact our team for more details on this.

The Stamper

The metal stamper is , well.. Metal, Nickel to be exact . The process creating this metal stamper is commonly referred to as the electroplating. It is created by spraying the lacquer with silver nitrate. The nitrate fills all of the grooves in the lacquer. This is then submerged into a nickel sulphamate solution which allows nickel to deposit through an electro-chemical process onto the silvered lacquer. This takes about an hour , when it is completed we carefully separate a perfect metal negative from your lacquer. The result is a metal stamper. It is then trimmed, back-sanded, punched to fit in our former, then formed to meet the requirements of the mold that will be used to produce your Vinyl Records
